Abstract
Why should HEIs work with Recognition of prior informal and non-formal learning?
What is needed in order to implement a process that works?
The peer learning project Recognition of prior learning in practice has worked two years with these issues, involving participants representing HEIs, ministries, QA-agencies, national stakeholder organisations and ENIC-NARIC offices from five countries and EURASHE. The conclusions of the project have showed that there are some basic building blocks that needs to be in place. The project has developed a self-assessment template that can be a good starting point and be of help to institutions to implement a quality assured process for recognition of prior learning or validation. The project activities have also shown that there is a need to cooperate around these issues within institutions as well as across borders and disciplines in order to learn and to build trust.
In this session we'll share the self-assessment template and our project learning. You will also get an insight in how the project supported the startup of the implementation of RPL for academic credits in Iceland and at the University of Iceland.
